CVAN Web Communications Contract

CVAN are looking to appoint a Freelance contractor to deliver the Website Communications for the network. The candidate appointed would need to be familiar with web communications tools and social media and be able to work flexibly to respond to requests for content to be uploaded within 48 hours of receiving information (current CVAN policy).

The current workload for uploading content, producing national newsletters and managing the site is around 16 hours per calendar month. This work can be slotted in around other commitments that applicants may have and can be undertaken at home.

Applicants will have to be available for a 1 hour fortnightly skype meeting with the National CVAN Coordinator who will be managing the candidate appointed and setting workload. Beyond that the candidate is free to work remotely and at their own pace within reason, using their own PC.

The contract will commence asap, no later than August 1st 2016, and run to March 31st 2017 (9 month contract). The contract for 9 months will be a total fee of £2880

This fee will be paid on an monthly basis at £320 per calendar month.(inclusive of all costs incurred based on £20 per hour) 

The contract can be terminated by either party by giving 4 weeks’ notice.

Background information:

www.cvan.org.uk is the national website for the Contemporary Visual Arts Network.

Content provided for the site comes from a number of places:

·         Via the National CVAN Coordinator charged with overseeing the site.

·         Via the regional CVAN Coordinators who request content to be uploaded regarding projects and information on their region on their regional page.

·         Via the submit a story/submit an event page on the website, where people can submit content and request it to be published. This method requires approval from the National Coordinator before publishing.

We have a policy of uploading content within 48 hours for Coordinators. (If information is received on a Friday, content would be uploaded the following Monday). All website content is then promoted on our social media tools.

We publish as soon as possible for content submitted to the submit a story/event section. We hold the right to not publish something that we feel does not fit with the website’s audience or CVAN’s mission, vision and values.

Fortnightly we produce a CVAN National Newsletter, this is curated by the National CVAN Coordinator with the Web Communications Editor and sent out via Mailchimp to our 1600 subscribers. We also produce CVAN Advocacy and Policy Bulletins intermittently as and when we need to communicate important policy issues to our followers.

The current website has50,158 visits per year with 26,378 being unique visitors.

Our twitter account has 3,556 followers, with an annual monthly growth of 110 new followers per month and an annual tweet impression of 114,998

We have 1660 subscribers to our newsletter with an average of 1200 opening it every fortnight.

The post would suit a digitally savvy flexible individual interested in managing their own workload and who would relish the opportunity to shape content and focus with the National CVAN Coordinator and regional coordinators and who ideally who has an interest in the visual arts sector.
