Fund for the presentation of works from The Artangel Collection

The Artangel Collection is a national initiative to enable notable film and video installations commissioned and produced by Artangel over the past 20 years to be presented in galleries and museums across the UK.

Over the last four years 20 museum and gallery partners around the UK have worked closely with Artangel on presentations of works from The Artangel Collection by artists and film-makers including Francis Alÿs, Yael Bartana, Jeremy Deller, Atom Egoyan, Douglas Gordon, Bethan Huws, Mike Kelley, Tony Oursler and Catherine Yass. The collection continues to grow, most recently with an installation by Ben Rivers.

From autumn 2015, Artangel is making available an annual fund of £25,000 to enable significant presentations of works from The Artangel Collection.   In the first year of operation, from autumn 2015 to autumn 2016, between £2,500- £7,500 will be available to museums, galleries or arts organisations towards the costs of solo exhibitions or curatorial projects which foreground works from The Artangel Collection.

Priority will be given to partners with a demonstrable need.  Funding can be allocated towards the costs of equipment hire and installation, specialist technical advice, as well as on occasion other installation costs or in support of artist’s travel. We recognise that the needs of our partners are varied and we are happy to respond flexibly and pragmatically to individual proposals.

If you have ideas for possible presentations of Artangel Collection works or would like to discuss the support available in more detail, please contact Phoebe James, Artangel Collection Coordinator, [email protected], 02077131400.

The Art Fund Curatorial Practice Workshop

The Art Fund Curatorial Practice Workshop: Exploring different positions in curating and running art institutions.

ICA Studio, The Mall, London, SW1Y 5AH
24 September, 13:00 - 17:30

15 bursary places available

As part of fig-2, the Art Fund Curatorial Practice Workshop, led by Fatos Ustek, will bring together a range of arts and museum professionals to discuss the future of curating and public institutions.

The workshop will adopt a unique relationship to the fig-2 exhibition, in which the artwork itself will help to activate the discussion. As addressed at a previous fig-2 event entitled Politics of Display (16th April), museums import historical consciousness and contribute to the shaping of personal identity. Thus museums have a duty to transform monologue into conversation. This curatorial workshop will build on the recent tendencies within the Fig-2 programme to develop a conversational relationship between the artist, the art work, the curator, the institutions and the public, exploring the potential of art as a tool for provocation of movement and transformation, while investigating the modes of ‘social imaginary’ produced by the museums and galleries nationwide.

Eligibility
Applications are open to all museum and gallery professionals who work with public collections.
