The exhibition embraces creativity and innovation and is inspired by the 2015 Arup Design Book about cities. The show presents aspects of built and proposed infrastructure, community projects, exploration of materials and objects - virtual, real and imagined - all united by nature and urban green projects. Together with Arup projects, artists include Mark Titchner, Ivan and Heather Morison, Damien Hirst, Myvillages, Something & Son and Wood and Harrison.

Firstsite is delighted to announce that applications will open soon for its first Open exhibition, which will take place throughout the galleries in autumn 2015. Artists will be invited to register work for inclusion in the exhibition from 1 August – 20 September. The exhibition will promote and showcase the diverse range of contemporary visual art practice in the East of England and will be open to artists based in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Our Annual Open Weekend returns with a range of contributions including exhibitions, events and performances alongside twelve artists working from Wysing opening their studios; a rare treat. Saturday 29 August, Smiths Row, Bury St Edmunds
Join artist and musician Kate Jackson on Saturday August 29th for a culmination party celebrating her residency at Smiths Row. Taking the format of a short-term residency in the gallery, the exhibition brings together Jackson’s painting and printmaking with her established practice as a singer and song-writer.
