The world is understood through myths. All meaning comes to us as stories. We can take control of these stories to create our own meaning and form new myths. Fragments of stories and half-remembered truths form constantly re-written histories and articulate new and possible futures.

The True Artist Helps the World by Revealing Mystic Truths.

  • Truth No. 1 – There is no establishment and no alternative
  • Truth No. 2 – Political art is over

Gavin Wade – What do we mean 'political art'? To be implicated in and be an active part of the political machine?

Andy Field – Politics is by definition 'of the people'. It should no more be defined by the political machine, than love is by Valentines day.

Gavin Wade – Should art, then, be defined by the art machine?

Image courtesy of Tom CretneyEMVAN is working with Contemporary Art of Walking to hold a series of netwalks in each of the counties of the region to follow on from the recent 'On Tour' events. The walks will offer the opportunity to develop the conversations that were started or connections that were made at those events. The second will be a circular walk from and back to Cromford Station in Derbyshire on Thursday 24 May, 1.30 - 4pm.

Alison Lloyd of Contemporary Art of Walking will lead the walks, which are designed to bring people together to walk, and in walking together to share an experience. The walks will feature art in a variety of ways, upholding a long-practiced artistic convention of using nature as a catalyst for thought and creativity, Alison has designed and led walks for and in collaboration with Beacon Bi Monthlies, Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, QUAD, Skegness Arts Festival, New Research Trajectories, and the Still Walking Festival, Birmingham.

The other walks will take place over the coming months, the dates of which are to be confirmed.
