Artist Talk: James Webb at Coventry Cathedral

South African artist James Webb will be undertaking the first ever international Artist Residency at Coventry Cathedral between August – November 2017. This initial residency will be a focused research and development period; Webb will explore the Cathedral, its inhabitants, ethos and its wider relationship to the city of Coventry, culminating in a proposal for a fully realisable work to be considered as part of the Cathedral’s celebration of its centenary in 2018.

Considered to be one of the pioneers of sound art, Webb explores communication and belief systems through theatrical installations. His works are both atmospheric and aesthetically impressive, creating alternative spaces for contemplation.

On Wednesday 23 August 2017 from 6.30pm James will talk about the residency and his work at a free event at the Cathedral.
