• Over eighty of the world’s most talented ceramicists to exhibit and sell work at this year’s fair, incorporating both noted stars and emerging talent

• Central Saint Martins relationship further reinforced through special Guest Exhibition of current students’ work and curated programme of events comprising workshops, talks and film screenings

Ceramic Art London (CAL), the leading international fair for contemporary ceramics, will move to the new venue of Central Saint Martins for its 2016 installment. Now in its 12th year, Ceramic Art London will take place from 8 - 10 April 2016, presented by The Craft Potters Association in partnership with Ceramic Review.

Ceramic Art London provides a unique platform for 88 emerging and established ceramicists from across the world to present and sell their latest work. The 2016 edition of the fair will see internationally recognised ceramic artists exhibit alongside dynamic, up-and-coming makers representing countries including Germany, France, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Denmark and Spain. Artists will showcase items ranging from functional everyday home ware, to figurative sculpture, presenting pieces of unparalleled breadth and quality, rigorously selected by an independent committee. Exhibited works will encompass the full range of ceramic-making techniques, from traditional methods to cutting-edge contemporary processes. An artist-led fair, Ceramic Art London facilitates the unique chance to buy pieces directly from the makers. With prices ranging from £30 to £10,000, the event provides a personalised experience catering to all collecting budgets and interests.

Owing to its central location at the heart of the King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter, CAL’s new venue, Central Saint Martins, will be easily accessible for creatives, collectors and commuters alike. Part of the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins has been housed in a Grade II listed Victorian Granary building in King’s Cross since 2011. The building underwent a £200m renovation by Stirling Prize winning architects, Stanton Williams, and offers natural light radiating from a glass ceiling three stories above, providing the ideal setting to showcase the diverse range of ceramic art on show at CAL. Ceramic Art London’s relationship with Central Saint Martins is further consolidated this year with a special exhibition of work by current ceramics students, offering an additional platform for rising stars to present their latest work. A lively programme of free events will also be staged on each day of the fair, curated by Central Saint Martins. The renowned series, entitled CLAYTALKS@CAL, will comprise talks, demonstrations, film screenings, debates and panel discussions designed to afford visitors an insight into current issues, working practices and techniques involved in the creation of ceramic art.

Chair of the Ceramic Art London Organising Committee, Peter Beard, comments: “2016 marks an especially exciting year for Ceramic Art London, and we’re delighted to announce our new collaboration with Central Saint Martins. As a world leading centre for art and design, CSM is the perfect venue for Ceramic Art London’s ceramic artists to showcase their latest work. The rise in popularity of ceramics over the past year has been perceptible across the mainstream media as much as in public and commercial contemporary art spheres, and we’re hoping this will encourage an even more diverse audience to experience the fair this year.”
