Culture Counts Campaign update
/The Culture Counts campaign is keen to ensure culture is on the agenda in the upcoming Parliament elections and will be holding a high profile hustings event in Glasgow, with the culture spokespeople from all the parties, to kick off debate. There will also be a concentrated burst of social media activity and a toolkit to encourage people to contact candidates and ask their views on culture.
Culture Counts political asks for the election remain the same and these are:
- A statement of principles that supports culture across all policy areas of Scottish Government
- A specific outcome and improved indicators for culture within the National Performance Framework
- The development of core investment for culture at local and national level, to further realise the value and impact of culture
Embedding an Outcome for culture in the National Performance Framework (the method used by the Government to set its agenda and measure performance), has already been included in the Scottish Green Party manifesto and was also picked up by the Scottish Federation of Entertainment Unions (Equity, BECTU, MU and NUJ) in their manifesto.
