Turning Point becomes the Yorkshire and Humber Contemporary Visual Art Network! Focusing on supporting the rich and vibrant contemporary visual art community across the region we are celebrating this development through the announcement of a unique and experimental cultural entrepreneurs programme.  The Cultural Entrepreneur Programme is a new scheme to identify and develop the skills of would-be art gallery owners, artists agents and other professionals who seek to create new markets for contemporary art.

Yorkshire & Humber Contemporary Visual Arts Network Coordinator Steve Manthorp said, “Yorkshire and the Humber has produced many of the UK’s greatest modern and contemporary artists, from Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth to David Hockney, Andy Goldsworthy and Damien Hirst, but we have not been as successful in providing opportunities for today’s artists to make their living in the region.  Through this pilot scheme we hope to help passionate and aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to develop new markets – regional, national and international - for artists to sell their work.”

The programme is funded by Arts Council England and is one of several national initiatives to attract new, private investment into contemporary art.

The Yorkshire & Humber Contemporary Visual Arts Network is part of the national Contemporary Visual Arts Network, a consortium of regional groups of contemporary visual arts professionals across the 9 English regions.

Yorkshire & Humber Contemporary Visual Arts Network is currently in the process of appointing an individual or organisation to deliver the Cultural Entrepreneur Programme and we anticipate that we will be offering places on the programme early in the New Year.
