Develop: Workshop is a one-day professional development event which will include workshops and talks with experts from the international photographic sector including: Zelda Cheatle, Curator, Editor and Photography Consultant; David Birkitt, Founder of DMB Represents and Lucid-ly; Adriaan Monshouwer, Visual Consultant and Business Developer; Marc Prüst, Photography Curator and Project Manager and David Drake, Director of Ffotogallery & Diffusion: Cardiff International Festival of Photography.  There will also be the opportunity for portfolio speed-dates with peers, NEPN and facilitators.

Aimed at fine art and documentary photographers, photojournalists and artists using photography, the event will explore practical new ways to articulate conceptual enquiries and reach new audiences. It will also consider models for developing sustainability and resilience in shifting financial and political climates, in relation to the different photographic contexts and ecologies.

The cost for attending is £20, which represents a 50% subsidy on ticket price (supported by NEPN and Arts Council England through Grants for the arts). Places are limited and expected to sell out. *Speakers confirmed at time of publication, may be subject to change.*

Photographers attending this event will be eligible to apply for the NEPN Develop programme, more information on the process for this will be provided at the event.

Develop will invest in up to 5 photographers to support their individual professional development supported by mentoring and a peer sharing process.  At least 3 of the cohort will be from the North East region.

Develop is designed to empower mid-career photographers to take a next step in their professional practice.   In order to identify those photographers who are open and able to develop their career, the programme will select awardees through a two-step process.  Stage one, Develop: Workshop is open to all photographers and should provide stand-alone professional benefit.  Stage two will be open to photographers attending stage one which will lay the groundwork for participation.

Develop is an initiative of NEPN and managed and produced by international photography curator and project manager Marc Prüst.  The programme is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
