What can NPOs do to highlight the value of our Art-forms in schools?
How can we work with teachers to deliver arts subjects?
How can we collaborate and share best practice in order to support schools?
Curious Minds is pleased to invite partners from National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) and beyond to a conference exploring Cultural Education in schools across the North West. The day is for staff from NPOs who work with schools and other artists, companies and organisations with an interest in this area and will be an opportunity to:
• Create new networks
• Share and develop exciting practice (specifically within the art forms of drama, music, creative writing, visual arts and dance)
• Consider how we can work together as organisations to strengthen the offers we make to schools and teachers.
The conference programme is a development of the ‘Artform Champion’ partnerships between Curious Minds and NPO partners: Action Transport Theatre, Live at LICA, The Lowry, Ludus Dance, More Music, and The Octagon Theatre Bolton. Whilst the target audience is NPO staff working with schools, we would also welcome attendance from our Artistic Director and CEO colleagues. In the first instance, each NPO has been allocated 2 places.
The event will include debate about the future of various art forms in schools through panel discussions, seminars and keynotes from experienced practitioners. We have invited speakers with both regional and national profiles who are renowned for their cultural expertise and leadership. Throughout the day there will be opportunities to discuss and network with representatives of prominent cultural organisations.
We know that NPOs are doing some exciting and inspiring work with schools and we want to create a space for people to connect, share practice and celebrate.
Following the day, the pledges we all make will inform our planning and development at Curious Minds.
