Flag Commission, Usher Gallery, Lincoln

Currently on the roof of the Usher Gallery, Lincoln are six flagpoles, used to fly national, local and artist designed flags. The Gallery sits half way up the hill below Lincoln Cathedral, the building and flags can be seen from over a mile away on the drive into Lincoln from the south.

For this site-specific commission the gallery are looking for an artist/designer whose practice fits well with or subverts the aesthetics of flags and regalia. The work needs to be bold and visually striking, making a visual statement that the building stands for creativity in the region. You do not need to have any previous experience working with flag designs.
