'AWARD is a showcase for ground-breaking and progressive practice, capturing the breadth and dynamism of artists engaging with clay today. It is an opportunity for ambition, and for new ideas to be explored and presented in a truly remarkable and historic location.' - Alun Graves, Senior Curator, Ceramics and Glass, Victoria and Albert Museum

Artists are asked to submit proposals, outlining work they would seek to present if selected for the 2017 British Ceramics Biennial, taking place in Stoke-on-Trent from 23 September to 5 November 2017. All work proposed must be current (no more than three years old). It is anticipated that many of the artists will propose to make new work for the 2017 exhibition. All artists must be resident in the UK.

The AWARD selection panel, chaired by Alun Graves Senior Curator of Ceramics and Glass at the Victoria and Albert Museum, will choose up to a maximum of 10 artists.

Each of the ten short-listed artists will be given a grant of £500 for use in meeting costs of the preparation of their proposed work and its delivery to the exhibition venue.

A single cash prize of £5,000 will be made together with an offer to the winner to be involved in both the selection process for AWARD 2019 and the subsequent BCB 2019 exhibition programme.
Deadline: 6pm, Monday 6 March 2017.
