Applications are invited from colleagues working in learning and education roles in the arts and cultural sectors to participate in the Extend Leadership Programme 2015-16.

Comprising a Personal Development Plan, two residentials, mentoring and group projects, Extend aims to give participants the confidence, skills and a range of experiences that will enable them to achieve a greater degree of leadership in their future career - this might be through gaining a leadership position or spearheading achievements that raise the status of the profession as a whole.

Led by engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, the Extend Leadership Programme is a professional development programme open to applicants working in learning and education roles, across all art forms, who meet the eligibility criteria. The programme is tailored for colleagues from the arts and cultural sectors, to enable participants to achieve a greater degree of leadership in their future career.

‘Working with a range of participants from different art forms is excellent...time to spend reflecting on my current practice, following on from presentations during the residential and conversations with peers has been great.’ - Extend Alumnus

Developed in response to the under-representation of learning and education staff in the arts and cultural sectors, Extend is the only leadership programme designed to meet the specific needs of education and learning professionals who aspire to leadership positions in the arts and cultural sectors. The pilot programme was funded by the Cultural Leadership Programme and the Scottish Arts Council; subsequent programmes have been funded by Arts Council England, Creative Scotland and the Arts Council of Wales.

The 2015-16 Extend Programme will support up to 14 colleagues working in learning and education roles in the arts and cultural sectors who consider themselves to be mid-career and aspire to leadership. It is envisaged that 9 places will be allocated to candidates working in England, 4 to candidates working in Scotland and 1 to a candidate working in Wales. Applicants working and resident in England or Wales may work in the arts, museums, libraries or heritage. Please note that applications from colleagues working and resident and Scotland are only open to those working in the creative arts sector.

The deadline for applications is 10am on Monday 23 March 2015.
