Call out for Breeze Arts Festival steering group co-leader/deliverer p/t freelance position

The Breeze Arts Festival is aimed at 11 – 19 year olds celebrating the creativity of young people across the city, the festival takes place over the first week of the Summer Term holidays. The festival includes exhibitions and performances by young people as well as workshops for them to take part in. For the past couple of years, the festival has had a steering group of young people in place as the Breeze Arts Festival management team, and they help to plan, programme and promote the festival.

Saturday 23 – Saturday 30 July 2016

When the steering group sessions will take place
Weekly, on Monday evenings, from 4.30 – 6pm at Leeds Town Hall, between 11th January and 1st August 2016. Some work will also be required during the festival week itself, dates tbc once the festival programme is known.

Role of the steering group co-leader/deliverer
Co-planning and co-delivering weekly sessions at Leeds Town Hall with the Senior Arts Project Officer, to deliver sessions to a group of approximately 10 young people aged 13 – 19.
The aim is to give young people the opportunity to plan/programme/promote the festival and provide them experience in the different aspects of planning and programming involved in delivering a city wide festival.
With your guidance the young people will choose the projects/workshops that take place during the festival and also choose performances by young people. They will also have an input into the marketing of the festival. The young people will also have the opportunity to go to performances/exhibitions, and alongside the Steering Group leader will plan their own event as part of the festival.

Fee / payment schedule
£25 per hour, 2 hours per week (to include planning, set up and clear away of each session). Separate planning meetings will also be paid when required.

Essential requirements
Experience of working with young people aged 13-19
Experience of delivering sessions to young people
Current DBS check
Public liability insurance
Arts Award trained (desirable)
