Mark Devereux Projects have announced their new 2014/15 professional development programme for MDP Associates.

Encompassing a variety of opportunities aimed at early-career visual artists from throughout the UK, MDP Associates aims to bring artists and industry professionals together, de-mystifying some of the important questions, while providing guidance and support for all areas of visual arts based practice.

As part of this year’s new programme, MDP are introducing two new opportunities; first, monthly peer-to-peer meet-ups at the Projects: Manchester space at Federation House. These sessions are a great opportunity for MDP Associates to get to know one another, offer critical feedback on each others practices, ask advice on professional practice and discuss potential future collaborations or projects together. Each month one of the supported artists or MDP directors will be there to also offer their thoughts, ideas and feedback.

The second new opportunity within this year’s programme will be a series of monthly critical dialogue sessions and talks in Manchester. Each month curators, gallery directors, leading artists and other industry professionals will be invited to Manchester to lead a variety of different events and talks for MDP Associates and other artists.

Launching this programme will be The NewBridge Project (Newcastle) Co-Director Will Strong, who will be leading a talk and discussion based around the different ways in which artists and creatives can and have re-appropriated commercial space for arts usage. Following on from this, Remco de Blaaij (Curator CCA, Glasgow) will be visiting Manchester in October.

Alongside this MDP will be continuing to offer support and advice for artists through one-to-one advisory sessions, opportunities to submit to an annual exhibition selected by curators from around the UK and opportunities to apply for a limited-period self-initiated residency at Projects: Manchester.
