Keeper of Contemporary Art Sought for Hatton Gallery

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) seeking a creative and highly motivated art specialist to join the Hatton team, to deliver a busy exhibition programme and manage the gallery’s outstanding art collections.

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service. They manage a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

The Hatton Gallery has been at the heart of cultural life in the North East for over 90 years. A Grade II listed building in beautiful surroundings on Newcastle University campus, the Hatton has a changing programme of exhibitions, from new works by contemporary artists to historical displays. It also showcases Newcastle’s bright new talent through its student exhibitions.

The available post is fixed term until 31 July 2015 to cover the secondment of the current Keeper of Art to a significant research project supported by the John Ellerman Foundation.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification or experience in visual art/history of art with a strong interest in modern and contemporary art, and experience of working with collections including documentation, interpretation and exhibition organisation.
