This brief relates to Phase One of a three phased five-year development plan proposing an integrated approach working with the private and public sector to raise the quality, profile and economic benefit of the visual arts offer in Dorset and support both cultural tourism and marketplace development.
Currently with little fit for purpose public gallery space and limited private gallery space, we need to explore the scope of our unique landscape and our arts heritage, and work with our museums and arts organisations to carefully manage opportunities to raise our reputation as a place to see, practice and to buy high quality artistic product. This project aims to contribute to the economic prosperity of Dorset by developing the potential of the area’s visual artists to establish their reputation and sell more high quality work to buyers locally, nationally and internationally.
