CVAN and The Audience Agency collaborate to benchmark visual arts audiences

CVAN is working with The Audience Agency to spearhead a consistent approach to gathering data, with the aim of improving the sector's understanding of its audiences.

Over recent months The Audience Agency, via CVAN, has undertaken regional meetings with visual arts organisations and is now implementing plans to create a visual arts cluster for the national Audience Finder initiative. Data collected by a newly formed sector cluster will be added to the national Audience Finder database.

Audience Finder provides insights and practical advice to help cultural organisations develop their audience through collecting, understanding and using data. You can find out more about Audience Finder clusters at audiencefinder.org.

The Audience Agency is building a national grid of clusters of cultural organisations across England. Using a consistent approach to data gathering and primary research this will generate powerful insight and intelligence for organisations and the sector.

Within one year we will have comprehensive data for the first time on the visual arts sector nationally.
